Friday, August 4th, 2023

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a woman who stole a cell phone that was left unattended by an employee at a Dalton store. The incident was recorded on store surveillance cameras.

The incident happened on July 29th at the Dollar General at 101 W. Walnut Avenue. Shortly after 8:30 pm, the suspect arrived at the store with a white male in a black passenger vehicle. Shortly before they arrived, an employee of the store put her cell phone onto the child seat of a shopping cart as she was working nearby. The suspect walked up to the shopping carts and took the one that had the phone inside. A short time later, the suspect and the man with her walked up to the checkout counter. When the checkout clerk handed the suspect a bag filled with her items, she first placed the bag on top of the phone and then reached underneath to put the cell phone into the bag. The suspect then finished paying for her items and the pair left the store together with the purchases and the phone. The employee did not realize that her phone had been taken until after the pair had left and searched the store for it, only realizing it was stolen after a check of the surveillance video.

The suspect is a white female with dark hair that was pulled up, and wore a black tank top and dark colored shorts. The man with her is a white male with gray hair and a gray goatee who wore a gray baseball cap and a blue t-shirt with the word "Summit" written across the chest with a mountain logo. He walked with a crutch. Pictures of both individuals are included below.

Anyone who recognizes these individuals is asked to please contact Officer Kaleb Warren at 706-278-9085 ex. 9-639 or by email at kbwarren@daltonga.gov
