Planning and Zoning Commission
Proper planning for current and future development is a critical part of building a great community where people can live, work, and thrive. Good zoning and good planning will keep the City of Dalton and Whitfield County growing and building for decades to come. The Planning and Zoning Commission works to make sure that the right plan is in place for our communities to stay the special places they've always been even as they grow for the future.
The Planning and Zoning Commission is a joint endeavor of the City of Dalton and the Whitfield County government. The City's members are appointed by the Dalton Mayor and Council. The commission is responsible for advising the Mayor and Council on matters of land use, zoning, subdivision regulation and related matters and making recommendations for the actions the City should take on those matters.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 PM and includes Scott Delay, Jim Lidderdale, and Jody McClurg.
