Dalton Police Department

The Dalton Police Department is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), and provides a full range of police services to the community. Our department is made up of 89 sworn officers and 12 civilian support staff who go the extra mile to provide professional service. Although we respond promptly to requests for service, the department uses a strategic approach to proactively seek solutions to crime problems, and all members place great emphasis on crime prevention.

To provide the community of Dalton a safe environment with professional quality police service through positive interaction with its citizens.

What we do and want to become is at the core of the mission statement. A mission statement also allows us to maintain direction, eliminate complacency and remain focused on our goals.

Philosophy

The Dalton Police Department maintains a philosophy of "community policing" in order to prevent crime and maintain a safe environment. Together with the citizens, businesses, and civic groups, the Dalton Police Department develops partnerships to solve current problems and identify others early so that intervention is possible before the problem is out of hand.
