Solid Waste Management Authority Board of Directors
The Dalton-Whitfield Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (DWSWA) Board of Directors is a joint commission created by the City of Dalton and the Whitfield County government. The DWSWA oversees City/County landfills as well as recycling operations and other waste management issues. The DWSWA is a non-profit organization created to benefit the people of Dalton and Whitfield County. The DWSWA Board performs essential government functions in the exercise of powers conferred upon it by statute.
The Board of Directors has full control and management of the affairs and business of the DWSWA. The Board consists of five directors who are residents of Whitfield County or the City of Dalton. Two members are appointed by the City of Dalton Mayor and Council, two are appointed by the Board of Commissioners of Whitfield County, and the fifth member shall be elected by the affirmative vote of the majority of the four remaining directors. All Board members are appointed for a four year term. The DWSWA Board of Directors meets on the third Monday of every month at 4;00 pm.
