Tree Board

The City of Dalton's canopy of trees is an key reason why our City is one of the most beautiful places to live and work in northwest Georgia. Preserving our trees and making sure they're well managed is essential to the future of our community. 

The City's Tree Board was created by the Mayor and Council in 1990. The Tree Board or its authorized agent is authorized to study and make recommendations to the Mayor and Council regarding the planting, maintenance, and protection of trees on public property; or when requested by the Mayor and Council, shall consider, investigate, make findings, report and recommend upon any special matter or question coming within the scope of its work governed by Mayor and Council adopted Tree Protection Ordinance.  The Tree Board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AM. 

The Tree Board is comprised of Dr Chris Stearns- chairman, Melva Purvis, Anna Verhoeff, John Poehlman, Nancy Hallsworth, Patricia Edwards, Jerome Key (city arborist), Robin Hasselberg, Roger Gates (ex officio), Carolyn Godfrey (honorary), Chris Hester (ex officio), Blake Brown (ex officio), and Troy Virgo. The City Council liaison is Mayor Annalee Sams.
