Zoning Appeals Board
Proper planning for current and future development is a critical part of building a great community where people can live, work, and thrive. Good zoning and good planning will keep the City of Dalton and Whitfield County growing and building for decades to come. The Planning and Zoning Commission works to make sure that the right plan is in place for our communities to stay the special places they've always been even as they grow for the future.
The Zoning Appeals Board hears requests for changes or exceptions in the City's Zoning Ordinance and approves or denies such requests. The board consists of members appointed by the Dalton Mayor and Council. It meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 12:00 pm in the county offices in the Wells Fargo building on Hamilton Street.
City appointees to the board include Austin King and Kenneth Harless.
