Police, Fire Departments Ready For Battle of the Badges

The public safety agencies of Dalton and Whitfield County work together every day to keep our community safe. On Saturday morning, however, they won't be backing each other up - they'll be squaring off against each other for bragging rights on the softball diamond.

The third annual Battle of the Badges charity softball tournament is set for 10:00 am Saturday at RIverbend Park, and admission is free for the public. Softball teams from the Dalton Police and Fire Departments as well as the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department will face off in a round-robin tournament to see who takes home the trophy. The Dalton Police Department and Dalton Fire Department both won games against their Whitfield County counterparts in last year's event and also won in the combined all-star game between City and County teams.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Grace & Joy House, the Dalton Police and Fire Departments' Shop With A Hero fund, and Dalton-Whitfield Special Olympics. There will be several items up for a raffle and there will also be event t-shirts and concessions for sale.
