Mohawk Donates Anti-Choking Devices To Dalton Police Department

Mohawk Industries recently provided funding for 90 LifeVac kits to outfit Dalton Police Department personnel with this simple, life-saving tool.
LifeVac is a noninvasive, nonpowered, portable ACD (Airway Clearance Device) used to remove an object from a victim’s airway when choking. The patented one-way valve design allows for negative pressure to help dislodge the obstruction while venting the air outside the unit, ensuring it doesn’t push the obstruction downward. It is an easy and efficient tool for first responders to use on both children and adults and has reportedly been used to save more than 3,200 lives.

“When the police department approached us about this opportunity, and we understood the life-saving impact these devices can have, the decision to support it was clear,” said Haley Chapman, community relations leader at Mohawk. “Our local police and first responders have some of the toughest and most important jobs in our community, and if we can help them make that work better, faster or more successful, even in a small way – for them and for the people they help – we’ll take that opportunity every time.”
This donation will provide each officer at the Dalton Police Department with a LifeVac to have on hand while responding to emergencies, which will be significant for the department as their officers are often one of the first responders on the scene in emergency situations.
“The mission and vision of the Dalton Police Department involves providing a safe environment for the citizens and visitors of our city through positive interactions and partnerships,” said Assistant Chief of Police Chris Crossen. “This partnership with Mohawk will provide a far-reaching and long-lasting effect for those in need of medical assistance in our community. Partnerships like this one are what make Dalton a special place to live and work and we are grateful to partner with Mohawk to provide this equipment for our officers and community.”
