UPDATE (7/17/24 - 9:00 am) - The individuals in this case have been identified. Thank you to everyone who contacted us with information.

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify two people who worked together in an attempt to steal a box of tools from a hardware store. The theft was recorded by store surveillance. Loss prevention staff were able to stop the suspects outside of the store and recover the merchandise but the suspects escaped.

The incident happened on July 9th at the Lowe's store on Glenwood Avenue. A man and a woman entered the store together before parting ways. The male suspect took an 8 piece Craftsman tool set valued at $400 off of a shelf and placed it in a shopping cart and began to push the cart around the store. The suspect then cut the security tab off of the tool box and walked away from the cart, leaving the tool box in the cart. The female suspect then walked up to the cart moments later and pushed the cart to the front of the store. The female suspect then pushed the cart out of the front door of the store. Loss prevention staff were watching these events unfold and a loss prevention employee confronted the woman outside of the main doors and grabbed the cart. The two suspects then ran from the store and left in a silver Toyota Corolla that was waiting outside with a driver waiting.

The suspects are a white male and a white female. The male suspect wore jeans and a plain gray t-shirt with a trucker style baseball cap. The female suspect wore her hair in a very messy bun and a black t-shirt with pink writing and green shorts. Her left leg appeared to have some sort of a wrap or bandage around it.

Anyone who recognizes these suspects is asked to please contact Detective Ben Ridley at 706-278-9085, extension 9-122.
