DPD Investigating Quick-Talking Quick-Change Scam Artist

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who used quick talk and confusion tactics to trick cashiers at local restaurants into giving him too much change for his purchases. The suspect was successful in pulling off thefts four times at three local restaurants. He was recorded by surveillance cameras. 

The incidents happened on October 13th and 14th. In each case, the suspect walked into the restaurant and placed an order while engaging the cashier in conversation. The suspect then gave the cashier a $100 bill for payment. After the cashier confirmed the bill was genuine, the cashier opened the cash register and began to make change. At this point, the suspect gave an excuse such as saying he would pay with a smaller bill. During this time the suspect kept the cashier distracted with conversation. Ultimately, the suspect was able to trick the cashier into thinking that he had given them back the $100 bill and the cashier gave them back change in the amount of approximately $90 depending on the purchase amount. In the four incidents, the suspect was able to get away with $375.61 in stolen money.
