Monday, October 30th, 2023
UPDATE (11/2/23) - This suspect has been identified.
The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a woman who forced open a locked door in a local business in an apparent attempt to commit theft. The woman's attempt was thwarted by an alarm system.
The incident happened just before 7:30 am on October 18th at the Suds and Shine laundromat at 1405 East Morris Street. Surveillance video from the business shows a white woman in the business for approximately half an hour while the building is otherwise empty. The woman was recorded going through trash cans and also moving laundry machines around in an apparent attempt to locate loose change or other items of value. At 7:23 am, the woman was recorded taking something from her pocket and using it to pop the lock on a door leading to a locked storage room. As soon as the door was opened, an alarm sounded and the woman immediately left the store. Police were called to investigate later by the business owner after he discovered the incident on his surveillance system.
The suspect is a white female with blonde hair who wore a red pullover or hoodie with "Old Navy" or similar lettering on the chest. The suspect wore blue pants with gray sneakers.
