Dalton Officer Honored For Life-Saving Acts
The Dalton Police Department recognized one of its officers for his life saving actions that led to the preservation of a man's life during an incident in June. Officer Tyler McBrayer received the department's Lifesaving Award at Tuesday morning's meeting of the Dalton Public Safety Commission.
The award was based on Officer McBrayer's actions during a call on the evening of June 9th, 2021 when he was dispatched a report of a man who was on the ground near the intersection of Morris Street and Thornton Avenue. When Officer McBrayer arrived, he found the man unconscious with no pulse and not breathing. Officer McBrayer rendered life-saving aid on the scene until help arrived from emergency medical personnel. In a letter of commendation, DPD Chief Cliff Cason noted that McBrayer's "quick reaction and willingness to act in this situation directly led to the preservation of life."
In recognition of the award, Officer McBrayer was presented with an award certificate and also an award pin that he can wear on his uniform.
