The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who stole a pickup truck that was parked at a store. The suspect was recorded on surveillance video.

The theft occurred on the morning of September 27th at the Loa Bakery at 737 Riverbend Road. The victim parked his red 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck in the parking lot and went inside the store. The victim told police that while he did turn his vehicle off, he unfortunately left the keys in the ignition with the doors unlocked. The victim was inside the store for approximately five minutes. While he was inside, a white man was recorded on store surveillance walking into the parking lot and walking up to the truck. The suspect got into the truck and drove away. When the victim came back outside, he called police to report the truck stolen.

The truck was recovered later in the day after it was spotted parked on Glenwood Avenue by a Dalton Police Department officer. After being processed for evidence, the truck was returned to the victim who reported nothing seemed to have been stolen from the truck.

The suspect is a white male who wore a black t-shirt and khaki pants, carrying a red backpack with curly brown hair. The suspect was recorded on surveillance video at two different stores walking along Riverbend Road before the theft.

Anyone who recognizes this man is asked to call Detective Ben Ridley at 706-278-9085, extension 9-122.
