UPDATE (1/18/23 11:45 AM) - both individuals have been identified, thank you to everyone who contacted Detective Edwards with information.

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a man who stole a woman's bag from her car recently in the parking lot of a local store. Police are also asking for the public's help to identify the woman who was with the suspect and drove him away from the scene. The victim's bag contained a laptop computer and an Apple watch along with other items.

The incident happened at the Family Dollar store at 1210 East Morris Street on December 15th. At around 7:15 pm, the victim in this case went inside the store, leaving her green work bag in the vehicle unlocked. The victim is a teacher and the bag contained her Lenovo laptop computer and also an Apple Watch SE. The bag also contained folders, notebooks, and school papers. A short while later, the suspect and the woman with him arrived in a white Ford Ranger pickup truck. The pair went into the store together and then went their separate ways inside. The woman eventually made a purchase and then went back to the truck. A few minutes later, the suspect also left the store, walking past the victim's car and then turning around and walking back to it and checking the driver's side door. When it opened, the suspect quickly leaned in to grab the bag inside. At this point, the pickup truck's lights turned on and the suspect quickly got into the passenger side and the woman drove the truck away from the scene.

The suspect is a Black male who wore a brown hooded jacket with fur lining around the hood, blue jeans, and a dark colored beanie hat. The woman with him was a heavyset white or Hispanic female with dark hair who wore a yellow shirt. Pictures of both subjects and their pickup truck are included below.
