Traffic Enforcement Unit

DPD TEU

The Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) is staffed by 3 officers and is supervised by the Special Operations Sergeant.  The TEU's mission is to reduce the overall number of motor vehicle collisions, especially those that result in injuries and deaths, that occur on the roadways of Dalton by targeting those dangerous driving behaviors that so frequently contribute to collisions:  Speeding, Distracted Driving, Reckless Driving, and Impaired Driving.

In October 2024, the Dalton Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit attended the Georgia Governor’s Challenge awards banquet in Macon, where the agency received second place honors in its category of agencies with 46 to 75 officers.  The department was also recognized with the 2024 Occupant Protection Award.  

 

 
GOHS Tahoe

In 2020, Dalton PD randomly drew the winning key at the GOHS banquet to a new 2021 Chevy Tahoe.
