DPD Investigating Entering Auto Cases, Suspicious Jeep

The suspect

Last month, a man went on the prowl in the Ambderfield subdivision near Dawnville Road, clinging to the side of a white Jeep Wrangler rolling slowly up and down the road while he jumped off and checked for unlocked parked cars. When he found an unlocked car, he stole everything he could, getting away with cash, jewelry, credit cards, a black Adidas bookbag, and soccer uniforms left inside the victims' vehicles. Five entering auto thefts were reported to police in the area, and now investigators want your help to identify the suspect - he was caught on video by one home's surveillance camera.

The incidents happened along Heather Way and Sierra Place off of Dawnville Road on August 22nd around 6:00 AM. The suspect could be seen on camera riding on the side of the Jeep which was being driven by an unknown subject. The vehicle can first be seen on camera in the area of Turf Drive off of Underwood Street, and then later driving through Amberfield subdivision, with the subject jumping off to rummage through and rob various unlocked vehicles. The subject is a white or Hispanic male, with short dark hair and of average height and weight. He appears to be in his late teens or early 20's.

Anyone who recognizes this individual or the vehicle is asked to please contact Detective John Edwards at 706-278-9085, extension 9-152.
