Traffic Alert - Roadwork on Dug Gap Battle Road Starts Aug. 31st

Traffic Plan

Historic rains on Easter weekend caused a slope failure on Dug Gap Battle Road and the City of Dalton's Public Works Department has been working ever since on a repair plan. Work to correct the problem will start on Monday, August 31st when Public Works and contractors GSI & Northwest Georgia Paving will perform repairs above the failure.

The work is expected to run through mid-October. Public Works will be working to try to keep the road open to traffic as much as possible while work is taking place but lane closures and full road closures will be necessary during the project. Single lane closures with mobile traffic control signals will be in effect while the repair work is commencing. During certain phases of the project intermittent, full road closures may be required. Motorists should consider alternate routes and use caution when traveling through the work zone while lane closures are in place. Motorists should treat the mobile traffic control signals like a normal traffic signal and reduce speeds to 25 mph or less through the work area.  Please plan for delays if you use this route while the project is commencing.
