Code Enforcement
The City of Dalton's Code Enforcement function is responsible for identifying and addressing city ordinance violations pertaining to building and property maintenance. Those ordinances have been adopted from the International Property Maintenance Code. Common code violations addressed include:
- Dangerous or dilapidated buildings
- Overgrown or littered properties
- Inoperable / junk vehicles
- Accumulation of refuse / garbage
- Illegal dumping
- Properties that are in disrepair
The Code Enforcement officer is assigned to City Hall in the Administration division and works closely with the Public Works Department, Dalton Police Department, Dalton Fire Department, and the Building Inspector's Office to address and correct code violations. The City's Code Enforcement function was previously part of the police department.
