City Council Votes To Adopt 2021 Budget
At a specially called meeting on Monday, December 28th, the Dalton Mayor and Council voted unanimously 4-0 to adopt the City's proposed 2021 budget. The budget was introduced at the council's December 21st meeting. Mayor David Pennington typically only votes in the event of a tie.
The 2021 budget can be viewed by clicking here. The budget includes a 2.49 percent reduction in city spending compared to the 2020 budget. In August, the City Council cut the city's property tax rate by about 9.5 percent, cutting the millage rate from 2.482 mills to 2.237 mills. That is equivalent to a $855,556 reduction in the City's property tax revenues.
