City Administrator Speaks To Local Kiwanis Club

City Administrator Andrew Parker gives a presentation at the Dalton Kiwanis Club

Part of being a civic leader is building strong bonds with the community you serve. New Dalton city administrator Andrew Parker is already hard at work building those relationships, taking time out from his second Monday on the job to speak to the Kiwanis Club about his new role and what the City of Dalton is working on.

Parker started his presentation with an update on the COVID-19 outbreak in Dalton, with information about what the City is doing to try to turn the tide of the latest pandemic wave. From the City's continuing emphasis on delivering vaccines to residents (next drive-thru clinic is at the Dalton Convention Center Tuesday, August 24th from 11 AM until 2 PM) to providing personnel to Hamilton Medical Center to supplement staffing during the crisis, beating back COVID and getting life back to normal for our residents is a constant focal point for City leaders.

Parker continued with an overview of a number of projects that are either on the drawing board or actually under construction around town designed to make our community the best place to live, work, and play in Georgia. From improvement projects along the Walnut Avenue and Rocky Face interstate entry corridors to new soccer fields and a new aquatic center to continued stormwater management projects, there's a lot on tap here in Dalton.

Andrew Parker's tour of various civic organizations like the Kiwanis Club will be continuing as he settles into his new role as the City's top appointed official. Connections and partnerships with our City's residents, leaders, and stakeholders are the most important things we can build at City Hall.
