Stormwater Construction Near Franklin St./Valley Dr. Set To Begin

Construction on the final piece of the Walnut North Drainage Improvements package is set to begin soon in the area near Valley Drive. The West Franklin Street & Valley Drive Stormwater Bypass is considered the third of the four phases of the project, but will be the final stage to be constructed.

The Dalton Public Works Department issued the notice for contractors to proceed with construction on March 4th. Work on the project is set to begin soon. The work includes the installation of new stormwater infrastructure that will connect the first two phases of stormwater management projects in the  West Hill Cemetery and along Ridge Street with a stream along Valley Drive where work was recently completed to stabilize the stream bank. 

Construction will affect the area of McFarland Avenue, Franklin Street, and Valley Drive. The project contract calls for construction to be completed by mid-August.
