Section Of Hamilton Street Parking To Close For Christmas Parade

Thursday, December 7th, 2023

The annual Dalton Christmas Parade will return to downtown next week on Thursday, December 14th at 6:00 pm. To make way for the parade, organizers will be closing the on-street angled parking spots along the east side of Hamilton Street (alongside the northbound lane) between Morris Street and Waugh Street at 4:00 pm. Vehicles parked in this area after 4:00 pm on the day of the parade will be subject to towing. Signs will be posted to remind visitors to downtown about the change.

These parking spots are being closed to provide more space for vehicles in the parade and participants to safely make their way along Hamilton Street. Parking on the west side of the roadway will not be affected.

The Christmas Parade will once again follow the traditional route for the event, beginning on Waugh Street and proceeding east to Hamilton Street where the parade will travel south in the northbound lane. The parade will then turn west onto Morris Street and then north on Thornton Avenue and then west on Crawford Street.
