Mayoral Proclamation For Dalton State Soccer's National Championship

Text of the Mayoral Proclamation presented to the 2024 NAIA National Champion Men's Soccer Team from Dalton State College: 

DALTON STATE COLLEGE MEN’S SOCCER DAY

WHEREAS, the Dalton State College Men’s Soccer Team won the 2024 NAIA National Championship with a win over William Penn University in Wichita, Kansas on December 9th; and

WHEREAS, the win capped off a dominant season in which Dalton State went undefeated with a school-record 22 wins; and

WHEREAS, the Roadrunners only conceded 7 goals during the entire season, and did not give up a single goal in the NAIA National Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Roadrunners won their first Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship in November and earned the top seed in the NAIA National Tournament; and

WHEREAS, four players were named All-American and eight players were named All-Conference, and eight players were named All-Conference Academic Team members; and

WHEREAS, Antonio Bittencourt was named the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year; and

WHEREAS, the Roadrunners coaching staff was recognized as the United Soccer Coaches National Staff of the Year.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, I, Annalee Sams, Mayor of the City of Dalton, hereby proclaim Wednesday, January 15th, 2025 as “Dalton State College Men’s Soccer Day” and I encourage all citizens and residents of Dalton to take pride in this team’s accomplishments, and cheer them on as they set their sights on repeating next season.
