Equipment Operator (Stormwater Division) - Public Works

The City of Dalton Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for an Equipment Operator. This is a full-time position in the Stormwater Division with a minimum starting pay rate to be determined based on experience. Major duties include operating a backhoe, skid-steer loader, and gradall; driving a single or tandem axle dump truck; using hand tools such as a mechanical tamp, concrete saw, and chainsaw; assisting crew members with the installation of stormwater drainage structures, setting grades for pipe installations, as-well-as concrete forming and finishing; and all other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License issued by the State of Georgia. However, a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license is desired for most positions and must be obtained within six months of employment. The City of Dalton Public Works Department will provide the required Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license training and reimburse the cost of the driver’s test once passed.  To be considered for employment an online application must be completed and submitted by 5:00 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023.
