Dalton Recertified As City of Ethics

The City of Dalton is being recognized for its commitment to ethical conduct by City leaders and staff. The Georgia Municipal Association announced this week that Dalton's government had met the qualifications to be recertified as a "GMA Certified City of Ethics."

At their meeting on April 4th, the Dalton Mayor and Council unanimously passed Resolution 22-02 which recertified the ethical standards by which the Mayor and Council as well as all City personnel would conduct themselves. Those ethical standards are:

  1. Serve others, not ourselves
  2. Use resources with efficiency and economy
  3. Treat all people fairly
  4. Use the power of our position for the well-being of our constituents
  5. Create an environment of honesty, openness, and integrity

The resolution was certified by the signature of Mayor David Pennington and each of the four City Council members.

The GMA will recognize Dalton and all of the other certified Cities of Ethics at its annual convention later this month.
