Request For Bids - Crown Mill Lot
INVITATION TO BID – CROWN MILL LOT
The City of Dalton has determined, pursuant to adopted Resolution 22-03, that certain real property no longer serves a public purpose and will therefore accept sealed bids for a cleared residential lot located at the northeast corner of the intersection of Tyler Street and Chattanooga Avenue. Sealed bids will be received until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at the City of Dalton Finance Department, 300 West Waugh Street, Dalton, GA 30720 and at that time opened and publicly read aloud. All bids must be sealed and plainly marked “Crown Mill Lot Bid 2022-0608. Bids received after the designated time will not be considered.
The legal description of the property is set out below.
All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in Land Lot No. 200 in the 12th District and 3rd Section of Whitfield County, Georgia, and being designated as Lot No. 421, Group 5 of the lands of Crown Cotton Mills, as shown on plat of said subdivision prepared by Southern Mapping and Engineering Company, dated August 1953, and recorded in Plat Book 3 Page 148, Whitfield County, Georgia Land Records, reference to which plat is hereby made and incorporated herein by reference. LESS AND EXCEPT any portion of said lot retained by the City of Dalton for the improved turn radius at the northeast corner of the intersection of Tyler Street and Chattanooga Avenue as needed for right-of-way purposes.
The City is authorized to convey said real property by quit claim deed to the highest responsible bidder who meets the conditions of sale in the invitation to bid, which shall require the successful bidder to apply for a R-3 zone classification for the tract under the Unified Zoning Ordinance and conform any new construction to the historical housing and character of the neighborhood.
The City of Dalton shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and in its discretion to re-advertise or to abandon the sale.
