Councilmember Mock Sworn In

Dennis Mock takes the oath of office

Newly elected City Councilmember Dennis Mock was sworn in to the Dalton City Council at Monday night's meeting. Mock ran unopposed to fulfill Derek Waugh's unexpired term on the council in the municipal election earlier this month. Waugh resigned earlier this year when he moved away from Dalton to pursue a new career opportunity. Dennis Mock previously served as Mayor of Dalton from 2014 until losing to Mayor David Pennington in the 2019 election.

Also at Monday night's meeting, the City Council certified the election results for the other two council races. Councilmember Annalee Harlan was certified as the winner of her race, and Steve Farrow was certified as the victor over incumbent City Councilmember Gary Crews.

Because Mock was elected to fulfill an unexpired term on the council, he was sworn into office immediately. Mr. Farrow will be sworn in during the first meeting of 2022 after Mr. Crews' term expires at the end of the year.
