The City of Dalton Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for an Equipment Operator. This is a full-time position in the Sanitation/Solid Waste Collection Division with a starting pay rate to be determined based on experience. This position involves the skillset to operate a variety of tractors, equipment, machinery, and vehicles, including a clamshell tractor, dump trucks, front-end loaders, and mowers.  This position may also include task related to curbside collection, transportation, and disposal of, solid waste, recyclables, and brush. Curbside collection may involve hand sorting, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling of moderately heavy objects.  Vehicles operated may include single or tandem axle garbage trucks, recycling trucks, street sweepers, brush trucks, or other equipment as assigned.  Duties also include light maintenance of equipment such as fueling, checking lubricants, cleaning of vehicle, and inspection of equipment for safe and proper operation. Applicants must have a valid, Class “B” or “A” Commercial Driver’s License issued by the State of Georgia.
