The City of Dalton is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Director to lead the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.  The new Recreation Director will help to continue to shape the department as well as assess the full range of leisure services already offered to the community. The Department currently offers full leisure services including 1,400 acres of park land, Nob North Golf Course, 7 outdoor walking trails, 40 athletic fields, tennis center, pool, playgrounds, disc golf and other amenities.

The City’s Recreation Commission works in tandem with and provides oversight and guidance to the Recreation Director.

 Highly qualified candidates should have at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of recreational programming and social and cultural programs and services, including at least three years of management and supervisory experience. Experience in park facilities planning and design, as well as developing, planning, implementing, and facilitating sports programs is preferred.  A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation, public administration, physical education, or a related field is preferred.   A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of a degree.
