Carpenter (Stormwater Division) - Public Works

The City of Dalton Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for a Carpenter. This is a full-time position in the Stormwater Division with a starting pay rate to be determined based on experience. Primary job duties for this position include: building and setting forms for various concrete structures such as catch basins, drop inlets, sidewalks and other roadway structures; assisting in placing and finishing concrete; helping with placement of storm drain piping, and installation of drainage structures; operating a dump truck used for stormwater maintenance and drainage construction; may be used as flagger for traffic control at a work site; and other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License issued by the State of Georgia. However, a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license is desired for most positions and must be obtained within six months of employment. The City of Dalton Public Works Department will provide the required Class “B” Commercial Driver’s license training and reimburse the cost of the driver’s test once passed.
