The City of Dalton, Administration Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant City Administrator.  This position will provide administrative and managerial support to the City Administrator as well as the Mayor and Council.  Will also provide overall direction to selected departments, coordinate assigned special projects as well as other duties generally associated with oversight of government activities and functions, and perform additional tasks as assigned.  May function as acting City Administrator in the absence of the City Administrator.

The minimum requirements for the position are a Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration or closely related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing operations and projects similar to those typically associated with local government functions and responsibilities required or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.  Local government management experience at department director level or above in a medium sized jurisdiction preferred.

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license no later than 6 months after placement in this position and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
