Four Firefighters Earn Promotions

The Dalton Fire Department announced promotions for four firefighters on Tuesday at the monthly meeting of the Public Safety Commission. Adam Stanley, Dale Reed, Brandon Elliott, and Danny Arthur were all promoted to the rank of lieutenant.

Adam Stanley joined the fire department in July 2011. He was promoted to the rank of engineer in January 2017 and in the years since has often acted as the officer in charge on numerous occasions. In addition to that leadership experience, Stanley has also served as a lead physical training instructor for the department's recruit school. He is also a graduate of the prestigious Georgia Smoke Divers program.
Dale Reed has also been with the department since 2011 and was promoted as an engineer in 2017. Reed has twice been selected as the DFD's Firefighter of the Year by vote of his fellow firefighters. He's a graduate of both the FLAMES (FIrefighters Laboring and Mastering Essential Skills) and Georgia Smoke Divers programs. Reed has taken time to serve as an instructor at firefighter training conferences across the country, showing his passion for the profession.
Brandon Elliott joined the fire department in 2005, and was promoted to the rank of engineer in 2012. In addition to his duties as an engineer, he has also assisted with coordination of maintenance for the fire department's fleet of fire apparatus. He is a graduate of the FLAMES program.
Danny Arthur has been in the fire services since he joined the Murray County Fire Department in 1998 while he was still in high school. He joined the Dalton Fire Department in 2013. He is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-1) and holds several NPQ and special operations certifications. During his years of service he has often served as an acting officer on his shift.
