Dalton Firefighter Promoted To Engineer

Dalton firefighter Brandon Glass was promoted to the rank of engineer Tuesday morning at the monthly meeting of the city's Public Safety Commission. Glass' promotion was confirmed by a unanimous vote of the commission members present. 

Dalton Fire Chief Todd Pangle presented Glass for promotion on Tuesday morning. Glass has served the Dalton Fire Department for more than nine years, joining the department in January 2013. During his career with the agency, he has earned his certification both as a Georgia Smoke Diver and also is a FLAMES course graduate. He also has become certified as a hazardous materials technician and a swift water rescue techinician as well as a trench rescue technician and a rope technician. He also holds several instructor certifications and also has completed fire officer training in order to serve as a fill-in officer in charge which Chief Pangle noted already puts him ahead of the game for the engineer rank.

In a letter to the Public Safety Commission nominating Glass for promotion, Chief Pangle noted that Glass' battalion chief has stated that Glass "shows great pride in his work ethic and that he works diligently to lead and train others." Pangle also noted that Glass has proven to be a valuable asset to the Dalton Fire Department.
