Blankenship Earns Promotion At Fire Department

The Dalton Fire Department promoted firefighter Donnie Blankenship to the rank of lieutenant Tuesday morning at the monthly meeting of the Public Safety Commission. Lt. Blankenship serves as the coordinator of the DFD's Fire Prevention Division.

Lt. Blankenship as served the Dalton Fire Department for more than 22 years, joining in November 2002. He rose through the ranks and eventually earned the rank of Firefighter III in 2011 before moving into the Prevention Division in 2015. He became a certified fire investigator the next year and he participates in fire investigations throughout the city. Last year, he was promoted to coordinator of the division.
"We appreciate your loyalty, when you look back at 2002, that's quite a while and we appreciate you staying with the city and being a part of the family," Public Safety Commission member Terry Mathis said.
The Public Safety Commission voted unanimously to recognize Blankenship's promotion.
