Reception Set To Honor Mayor Pennington

Wednesday, December 13th, 2023

The City of Dalton will honor David Pennington with a reception before his final scheduled council meeting as Dalton's mayor. Mayor Pennington has served in the office for ten years, first from 2008 until 2014 when he resigned to run for governor of Georgia and then again for another term that started in 2020. He announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election.

The final scheduled Mayor and Council meeting of Mayor Pennington's term is set for Tuesday, December 19th at 6:00 pm in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The reception honoring the mayor will be held in the lobby outside of the Council Chamber from 5:00 until 6:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend and greet Mayor Pennington and other City officials.

Annalee Harlan Sams, a former member of the City Council, was elected in November to succeed Pennington as mayor. She will be sworn in at the council's first meeting of 2024 on January 8th.

City Hall is located at 300 W. Waugh Street near downtown Dalton.
