Mayor and Council To Discuss Budget Monday
The City of Dalton's proposed 2021 budget will be discussed at the Monday, December 21st meeting of the City of Dalton Mayor and Council. The proposed document, which includes reductions in City spending after a tax cut earlier this year, could be adopted at a called meeting later this month.
The Mayor and Council will meet at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall on December 21st for their regular meeting. As part of that session, they will review the proposed budget which is attached below. The Council cut the City's millage rate earlier this year at its August 31st meeting from 2.482 mills to 2.237 mills. That's a decrease of .245 mills or a 9.8 percent reduction. That is equivalent to a $855,556 reduction in the City's property tax revenues, or a cut of 9.5 percent. The proposed 2021 budget calls for a 2.49 percent reduction in the City's expenditures.
